No excuses anymore… 

For not learning a foreign language. I remember studying Japanese back in the 1980s with a few outdated textbooks culled from the library stacks at the University of Cincinnati.  

Yes, I do feel like the old timer talking about having to walk three miles to attend classes in a one-room schoolhouse. The internet now enables language learners to access podcasts, videos, etc. online, as detailed in this article, “Learning From a Native Speaker, Without Leaving Home” in the New York Times… 

THE best way to learn a foreign language may be to surround yourself with native speakers. But if you can’t manage a trip abroad the Internet and a broadband computer connection may do the job, too, bringing native speakers within electronic reach for hours of practice.
