Oil over $100

Yes, I’m going to get on my soapbox again about foreign oil

  • This is nothing new. OPEC has been holding oil over our heads since 1973---35 years now. (Your middle-aged host was in kindergarten back then.)

  • Our foreign oil addiction funds lots of very unsavory causes: the Saudi government, Islamist terrorism, Hugo Chavez, Iranian weapons programs, Hugo Chavez.

  • In the long run, developing alternatives to oil is much cheaper than sorting out the religious and political conflicts of the Middle East---which can ultimately only be sorted out by the people living there.

  • The development of an alternative to foreign oil should be one of our top two or three national priorities.

  • Breaking our oil addiction without a return to the age of the horse and buggy is well within our capabilities. We only lack the will. If we can put a man on the moon….

Well, you know the rest.
